How to Purify Your Body?

At certain times of the year, especially during seasonal changes, after a stressful period or following the holiday season, you may feel the need to purify your body. Tiredness, lack of energy, sluggish digestion, a few extra pounds… Stop! Here are a few tips to help cleanse your body.

Tip No.1 for purifying your body: stay well hydrated

A proper detox naturally involves drinking, because hydration helps to restart the activity of the body’s elimination organs, especially the kidneys, intestines, skin and lungs. Drinking also helps boost circulation of bodily fluids (blood, lymph), for better tissue oxygenation and toxin elimination. Hydration should mainly come from water, but you can also consider other drinks:

  • some lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, to rehydrate the body after the night and help rebalance the body;
  • some detox waters, which are low in calories and help add variety;
  • some herbal teas made with plants, making sure to choose draining herbs (meadowsweet, cherry stems, mouse-ear hawkweed, orthosiphon…) or digestive ones (artichoke, lemon balm, black radish, licorice);
  • green tea, a diuretic and antioxidant drink;
  • fruit and/or vegetable juices (including green juices) which, in addition to hydrating, help you stock up on vitamins;
  • draining drinks, such as our Fat-Burning Slimming Drainage Drink, made with extracts of lipolytic caffeine (guarana, green coffee and kola) and detoxifying ash.

Tip No.2: eat fruit and vegetables

To detox your digestive system and restore smooth digestion, nothing beats plant-based foods. Fruit and vegetables have the advantage of being rich in water, fiber (for an undeniable “appetite-suppressing ” effect), essential micronutrients and antioxidant compounds (to help fight inflammation and premature aging). So don’t hesitate anymore: eat them at every meal, raw or cooked. For a good body cleanse, focus on:

  • foods rich in fiber, such as kiwi, legumes, leek, apple and avocado;
  • fruit and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C, to boost your energy and enjoy beautiful skin (all red and orange foods, such as carrots, grapefruit, bell peppers, sweet potatoes…);
  • green vegetables, which are diuretic and help support detoxification—asparagus, cucumber, zucchini, lettuce, artichoke…;
  • foods rich in potassium, for their anti-water-retention action—spices and herbs (parsley, coriander, cumin, ginger…), spinach, fennel, seaweed…

Tip No.3: get moving!

Yes indeed, without physical activity, it’s hard to purify your body… Why?

  • Exercise leads to sweating which initially happens to regulate body temperature. But sweating also helps eliminate toxins through the skin.
  • Physical activity also allows you to breathe deeply, fully empty your lungs and fill up on fresh air, especially when done outdoors.
  • The body’s elimination organs are stimulated by movement, especially the intestines, but also the entire lymphatic system, which is naturally reactivated.
  • Exercise also helps detox the mind! During physical effort, the body releases many feel-good hormones, especially dopamine and endorphins, for a great mood and fewer dark thoughts. The healthy tiredness that follows also helps you sleep well.

Tip No.4: avoid all excess

Adopting healthy habits to purify the body is great, but you also need to stop any behavior that would have the opposite effect… Namely, excesses such as:

  • alcohol, which is very high in calories and, above all, provides no nutrients to the body and puts a strain on the liver;
  • tobacco, which intoxicates the body as a whole;
  • sugar, which promotes fat storage, overworks the pancreas and liver and can become addictive —making it difficult to give up later;
  • junk food in general, which is often packed with sugar, salt and saturated fats that are harmful to health and weight;
  • salt, which causes water retention and high blood pressure.

Tip No.5: sleep well

How can sleep help cleanse your body? It’s very simple: at night, many metabolic processes take place in our body and contribute to our overall well-being. Among them:

  • hormonal activity is regulated during sleep, as if the body were resetting all its clocks. And we know that hormones (insulin, prolactin, ghrelin, leptin) play a major role in metabolic balance;
  • the elimination of free radicals, cell renewal and DNA repair also take place at night;
  • the immune system, to stay strong and protect us from infections, also needs us to sleep properly;
  • finally, cognitive abilities (memory, alertness, mood) all benefit from solid nights of sleep.

So sleep truly plays a role in the detoxification process. To sleep well, simply:

  • go to bed and wake up at regular times—the body is a creature of habit;
  • eat a light dinner and leave enough time before bedtime;
  • choose foods rich in tryptophan ;
  • stop using screens at least 2 hours before going to sleep;
  • rest in a completely dark, cool, well-ventilated and quiet bedroom, in a clean bed and comfortable sleepwear.
