Homemade draining drink no1: Sassy Water

A true detox classic, and one that has the great advantage of being simple to prepare at home. This draining drink was created by journalist Cynthia Sass to help her lose weight after giving birth. Draining, energising and refreshing, it helps achieve a flatter tummy by supporting digestion (diuretic cucumber, ginger with its anti-inflammatory properties). To make it, you will need:

  • 2 litres of water
  • 1 tsp of grated ginger
  • 1 cucumber, sliced into rounds
  • 1 lemon untreated, unpeeled, cut into pieces
  • 12 mint leaves

Prepare this infused water the night before — it will only taste better. Simply place all the ingredients in a pitcher and leave it in the fridge overnight.

Fennel is one of the best plants for relieving digestive discomfort, including bloating. It reduces abdominal gas, supports healthy liver function and is gentle on the intestines. Its draining bonus?   • 2–3 tomatoes
