Butt mask: what should you think of it?

Butt mask: what should you think of it?
Contents

“I can’t take this mask anymore!” We can all agree that wearing a mask was quite the ordeal, and one we could happily have done without! But don’t worry, we’re not talking about the pandemic here. We’re talking about a very different kind of mask… the beauty mask for your bottom! No, you’re not dreaming: this treatment for our derrieres, also known as a bum mask or butt mask, is taking social media by storm. So what exactly is it? What forms does it come in, what can you expect from it, how do you use it, and are there any alternatives? We tell you everything!

The butt mask: what is it?

A mask for your bottom is simply a treatment mask — firming, hydrating, or purifying — specifically designed for the buttocks area! Today, there are masks for every part of the body: the face, lips, eye contour, feet, and even the chest. The bottom is no exception and now has its very own dedicated masks.

The product comes in several forms, but the most common are:

  • The fabric butt mask — it comes in the form of a single-use sachet. The mask, made from a fine, lightweight fabric, is soaked in a treatment solution that varies depending on the desired effect. It is divided into two sections (one panel per cheek).
  • The butt mask in a jar or tube — this is a mask applied by hand. It comes in the form of a cream or balm, to be applied in a generous layer over the buttocks and left on for a few minutes before rinsing off.

Butt masks are therefore very similar to face masks. The main difference lies in their formulation. Indeed:

  • The skin on the face and the skin on the buttocks differ in both density and resilience. Facial skin (as well as the neck and chest) is very delicate and requires specific care, while the skin on the rest of the body is more robust. As a result, the active ingredients used to formulate masks vary considerably depending on the area of the body they target.
  • The properties of each mask are not the same. For example, a butt mask is usually designed with the comfort and firmness of body skin in mind, while a face mask is formulated for the needs of more delicate skin.

What are the effects of butt masks?

Butt mask: what should you think of it?

There is an incredible variety of masks available! The buttocks endure a great deal on a daily basis: friction from clothing, the pull of sometimes uncomfortable underwear, the pressure of prolonged sitting, and a lack of exposure to fresh air (since they are almost always covered)… As a result, the skin in this area can develop blemishes, roughness, dryness, spots, and even stretch marks or cellulite.

Depending on your needs, a bum mask can offer the following benefits:

  • Hydrating and softening
  • Firming and plumping
  • Toning
  • Purifying and soothing
  • Refreshing and brightening
  • Anti-cellulite

The active ingredients used are selected for their specific properties. A purifying butt mask will contain ingredients commonly found in anti-blemish skincare (clay, charcoal, salicylic acid…), a hydrating mask will often be enriched with Aloe Vera or shea butter, and a firming mask will generally rely on ingredients rich in caffeine (guarana, maté, green coffee…). Some butt masks are even enriched with micro-beads for a gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells.

How do you use a bum mask?

It all depends on the format. A sheet bum mask comes in a single-use sachet. It is divided into two sections, and you place one panel on each cheek, following the manufacturer’s instructions. A mask in a jar or tube is applied by hand in a generous layer, then left on for a few minutes before rinsing off.

Choose your mask according to what you’re looking for: hydrating, firming, purifying and so on. If your skin is broken or irritated, ask your GP or another medical professional for advice before trying a new product.

Are there alternatives to the butt mask?

Butt mask: what should you think of it?

As you will have gathered, behind this new concept of the butt mask lies nothing more and nothing less than a body treatment. The current craze for sheet masks is influencing brands and, by extension, their customers. But targeted body treatments have existed on the market for a long time: nourishing balms for the chest and décolleté, face creams (anti-ageing, purifying, mattifying), dry foot treatments, eye contour care…

Cellublue products are rooted in this tradition of quality cosmetics, offering solutions for all women that specifically address their skincare concerns.

For instance, our Cellulite Scrub can be used on the buttocks area 2 to 3 times a week. Its caffeine-enriched formula is designed to fit into your body care routine. Its fine exfoliating particles (olive and apricot kernel) gently buff away dead skin cells, leaving the skin on your bottom soft.
