Should you have a snack to get rid of cellulite?

You hear it everywhere: to get back in shape and eliminate cellulite, you need three balanced meals a day — breakfast, lunch and dinner. While these three meals are indeed essential, one thing is often left out: the snack! Too often dismissed as a children’s habit, mindless munching, or the enemy of a slim figure, snacking is actually recommended if you want to lose weight for good and smooth away dimples. Here’s why!

5 reasons to have a snack

Avoid mindless munching

Sometimes hours go by between two meals. After 3 to 4 hours, hunger tends to creep in — and that’s when things go sideways: you reach for whatever’s within arm’s reach. The chocolate croissants your colleague brought in, the packet of biscuits sitting on the desk, the forgotten bag of sweets at the back of the cupboard… Mindless snacking is truly the enemy of a toned figure: those are the moments when your body stores fat that ends up settling into those stubborn dimples! To prevent cellulite from forming, it’s far better to opt for a healthy, mindful snack.

Boost your metabolism

By activating your metabolism at snack time, you also encourage your body to burn more fat throughout the day — helping to prevent fat storage and the appearance of cellulite.

Avoid energy slumps

During the day, after several hours without eating, it’s perfectly normal to feel tired. Your body needs fuel to function properly. If your last meal wasn’t substantial enough, or didn’t include slow-release carbohydrates, you may find yourself flagging between meals. Having a snack is the perfect way to get your energy levels back up!

Snacking to better spread your daily intake

To lose weight, it’s important to give your body a regular eating rhythm. By spreading your intake across 4 meals instead of 3, you allow your body to perform at its best throughout the day — and you avoid overeating at main meals. Having a snack will help you resist the urge to overindulge at your next meal, which is great news when you’re fighting stubborn fat and cellulite.

Avoid feeling deprived

The best way to slim down and say goodbye to orange-peel skin is not to go hungry between meals, but to have a healthy snack that meets your body’s needs and brings you genuine pleasure — without weight gain or cellulite.

What snack should you choose?

Now that you know why snacking is a good habit, let’s look at what you can eat during this little break… Keep in mind that a snack is only beneficial when it’s light, balanced and mindful. It’s not meant to replace a full meal and should not exceed 200 calories for a moderately active woman.

If you’re short on time and prefer something sweet, you can treat yourself to: a fresh piece of fruit, a homemade cereal bar, plain yoghurt with honey, or 2 squares of dark chocolate…

If you prefer something savoury, you can go for: a slice of wholegrain bread, a small piece of cheese, a hard-boiled egg or a handful of nuts.

If you have a little more time, why not try a slightly more indulgent snack? Here are 3 easy ideas!
