After a string of indulgent meals, our bodies often need a reset. You’ve probably heard of a food detox — but do you really know what it is and what it’s for? We break it all down in this article!

What is a food detox?
Every day, our bodies are bombarded with toxins that come from what we eat, our environment, and even our own bodies. Under normal circumstances, our system is perfectly capable of eliminating these toxins on its own — no need to worry! Sometimes, though, it needs a little extra help. This is especially true after a period of dietary excess — like the holiday season, for example — as well as during seasonal transitions or particularly exhausting, stressful periods. These are the perfect moments to embrace a detox!
What are the benefits of a detox?
A detox helps your body flush out accumulated toxins — in other words, waste. The benefits are felt most noticeably in the liver, the stomach, and even your skin. In practical terms, you’ll feel lighter and more energised! If you feel like you’re gaining weight for no reason, struggling to digest, catching every bug that goes around, or sleeping poorly, it might be time for a detox!
By boosting toxin elimination, you’ll also encourage your body to shed stored fat. And that’s great news for anyone looking to lose a few extra pounds and fight cellulite! During a detox, your body tends to drain fat cells — the very ones responsible for dimples and stubborn bulges.
How to do it?

For a truly effective detox, pair this diet with physical activity. Yoga, Pilates, swimming or body balance are all excellent options.
Finally, don’t overlook your beauty routine — it helps cleanse toxins from the outside in: body scrubs, body masks… A successful detox means caring for your body inside and out!
To feel the benefits of a detox, just a few days are enough. Once you’ve regained your energy and your digestion is back on track, you can gradually return to a more varied diet.
Spotlight on lemon for a successful detox

Lemon is also excellent for liver function, naturally helping to release accumulated toxins. It’s a powerful detox ingredient with anti-water retention and draining properties! Lemon also helps stimulate the metabolism, supporting a fat-burning effect to help you maintain your figure day to day — alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Drinking lemon water every day is said to offer numerous benefits, both against cellulite and for its detoxifying effect.
To prepare it, simply fill a bottle with still, cold water, squeeze one whole organic lemon into it, then slice the lemon and add the pieces to infuse. Your drink for the day is ready!
You can also enjoy this drink warm. Ideally, drink a glass first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then sip throughout the day to make the most of all the benefits of this detox water.
If you drink it warm, it can help keep your stomach flat, as lemon combined with warm water helps regulate natural intestinal movement.
Finally, this drink also helps curb hunger and reduce cravings for sweet or salty snacks. Lemon water can be a great companion to your two healthy daily snacks!
