Summer is just around the corner and with it comes its share of little pleasures…and little inconveniences. The one that bothers you most: your thighs touching and ending up irritated. To understand why you’re built this way and, above all, find anti-friction solutions, read on!

Why do my thighs touch?

To this question, there are several answers:

  • it can be a morphological characteristic, purely genetic, which has nothing to do with weight;
  • water retention can explain the phenomenon, especially if it’s seasonal. Thighs swell due to poor venous-lymphatic circulation (vasodilation caused by heat) and, when engorged, end up rubbing;
  • pregnancy can be the cause. Pregnant women gain weight, but also tend to retain water, so they experience morphological changes;
  • excess weight can also be an explanation, since we know that women’s fat cells concentrate mainly on the thighs-buttocks-hips area;
  • finally, muscle mass can also be the cause. If you practice a sport that particularly works your thighs (cycling, weightlifting), they will inevitably gain volume and may end up touching.

In any case, having thighs that touch is nothing rare or shameful. Don’t believe that all girls have a well-defined “thigh gap” because it’s far from being the norm. Few women have such a morphology – it requires very slim thighs and a fairly wide pelvis, or thinness. When you know that 40% of French women wear a size 44 or larger and the most common size is 40 (19.5%) then 42 (18.50%), you quickly understand that having rubbing thighs is the common lot of the majority of women.

How to slim the inner thighs?

If you’re self-conscious about your thighs touching, know that certain solutions exist. You can tone and slim your thighs and thus reduce friction. To do this, you should:

  • adopt healthy and balanced eating habits, which will prevent any fat gain in the thigh area;
  • exercise regularly and choose a discipline that tones the inner thighs and slims the thighs overall. Think of certain fitness movements (clamshell, lateral squats, fire hydrant…) or sports like roller skating;
  • use smart cosmetics, like our duo Cryo Slimming Gel Thighs (day) and Night Slimming Cream Thighs. Their fat-reducing action is ultra-targeted and truly effective – 95% of people who tried this routine recommend it;
  • massage yourself, for example using our Slimming Device, whose 3 massage heads allow you to adapt the type of massage (fat-reducing, reshaping or toning) and can be used on the inner thighs;
  • consider smart textiles, which continuously release slimming actives in the belly-buttocks-hips and thighs area. We’re obviously thinking of our Slimming Shorts, whose weave is encapsulated with slimming actives. Very comfortable, invisible under clothing, its fabric is shaping and allows you to lose inches in the thigh area.

Thighs Touching: How to Relieve Friction?

Thigh friction is generally not bothersome in winter, or as long as you wear relatively thick pants. But when warm weather arrives, it’s a disaster: heat and the sweating that results cause inner thigh irritation. And the phenomenon is worsened by wearing short shorts or dresses, since skin rubs when you walk. Result: redness and pimples, burning, itching and real discomfort.

Yet there are truly effective anti-friction solutions. Because the best weapon remains prevention! Among the ways to avoid irritation:

  • wearing appropriate clothing – loose, lightweight fabric, preferably natural textiles (linen, cotton), worn over clean and hydrated skin;
  • wearing shorts in microfiber, thin and with a “second skin” effect, or anti-friction bands (they come in different colors and are covered with a light silicone film to prevent embarrassing slipping);
  • using an isolating cream or an anti-friction balm, which lubricates and softens the skin on the inner thighs;
  • along the same lines, applying a natural vegetable oil, such as coconut oil, which nourishes the skin while lubricating it. Some recommend vaseline, but it’s made from mineral oils, so less recommended;
  • applying talc, preferably unscented, as it has the advantage of absorbing moisture. It’s even why we apply it to babies’ bottoms (to prevent diaper rash);
  • And if despite your efforts, friction has still caused irritation, you need to treat it! Applying a soothing and emollient cream helps calm heated thighs. It should be applied daily to perfectly clean skin. Burn care creams can also be very helpful and soothe burning sensations. Finally, nature has its say: certain natural ingredients can truly provide relief. Think of St. John’s Wort or calendula oil infusions, Aloe Vera gel or hydrosols (lavender, mint).
