If, like many of us, you’ve been watching your figure carefully over the past few weeks to feel confident in your swimsuit and show off smoother skin, it would be a shame to undo all that hard work over these two summer months, wouldn’t it? A great body takes year-round care — you know that, ladies. But in summer, food temptations are everywhere! The ice cream stand around the corner, the crisps sitting on the table, the doughnuts sold on the beach… Hard to resist. What if we told you that you don’t have to? All you need to do is opt for their slimming alternatives — 100% pleasure, 0% guilt!
Slimming alternatives to ice cream
If you head to the ice cream parlour, skip the creamy scoops — they’re far too rich and sugary. Go for a fruit ice lolly or a sorbet instead. For a lighter option, skip the whipped cream and toppings, and enjoy your ice cream in a cup rather than a cone. Homemade alternatives are even better for your figure, such as nice cream, coconut water ice lollies, or frozen yogurt.
Slimming alternatives to doughnuts, churros and other fried sweet treats

Light baked doughnuts
Ingredients (makes approximately 6 doughnuts)
- 170g cornstarch
- 25g brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- 65ml almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
The recipe
- Pour the milk, sugar and oil into a saucepan over very low heat and warm gently until the sugar dissolves. Remove the pan from the heat.
- In a blender, combine the cornstarch, baking powder, egg and the milk and sugar mixture. Blend for a few minutes on low speed.
- Add the salt and blend again until the dough no longer sticks to the sides.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and leave it to rest for about 1 hour.
- Knead the dough again, then shape it into 6 balls and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Gently flatten each doughnut.
- Leave the dough to rest uncovered for another 30 minutes, and preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Bake the doughnuts for 8 to 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and leave to cool.
Enjoy!
Slimming alternatives to barbecue
A barbecue is a summer essential! But be careful — if you go for the classic combo of red meat, sauces, bread and crisps, the calorie count will quickly spiral and cellulite may start to creep in… Fortunately, there are much healthier and truly delicious slimming alternatives! To start, swap out red meat — often high in fat — for white meat (chicken, pork…) or fish. The barbecue is, for example, perfect for cooking a beautifully tender, lightly grilled salmon fillet!
To replace the heavy, salty sides that often come with a barbecue, try slicing up a variety of vegetables and grilling them. Have fun experimenting with different types (courgettes, mushrooms, peppers, aubergines…) and spices to bring out their natural flavours.
Finally, skip the usual sauces like mayonnaise or béarnaise, and instead whip up a light dressing made with fromage blanc, lemon juice and fresh herbs.
Slimming alternatives to crisps and peanuts at aperitif time
You could eat perfectly all day long, but if you give in to a classic aperitif every evening, your efforts will quickly be undone… Aperitif biscuits, pâtés, crisps and other overly salty, fatty nibbles are best avoided if you want to stay trim and say goodbye to orange-peel skin. But don’t worry — there are plenty of slimming alternatives for a great aperitif! With these recipes, you’ll see that you can treat yourself and enjoy long summer evenings without gaining a single gram…
Slimming alternatives to cocktails

If you prefer alcohol-free cocktails, give the Cinderella a try — it contains just around twenty calories! To make it, simply mix 5cl of lemon juice, 5cl of orange juice and 5cl of pineapple juice.
Finally, if you want slimming alternatives to cocktails that won’t add a single gram, fruit-infused waters are your best allies! Simply chop up your favourite fresh fruits and leave them for several hours in the fridge, in a large water bottle or a sealed carafe. The fruit will infuse the water with a fresh, light flavour — perfect for cooling down after a long summer day and helping to fight cellulite.
