To keep memories of our holidays and share the best moments, so many of us have the same reflex: grab our phone and start snapping! At the beach, on a walk, at a restaurant or in front of a stunning sunset, these photos let us relive our holidays long after they’re over. But for many of us, the image we see in those shots isn’t always the most flattering! A face that looks too round, arms that seem too thick, thighs that appear too wide… Some photos just don’t do us justice. So here are a few tips to help you look amazing in your holiday photos!
Lift your chin
As well as giving you a more dynamic look in photos, lifting your chin slightly (just slightly — we’re not suggesting you stare at the sky all day) helps avoid the dreaded double-chin effect. Another trick for a slimmer-looking neck: roll your tongue back and press it against the roof of your mouth. Even celebrities swear by this one!
Choose your outfits wisely
If you want to feel and look great in your holiday photos, what you wear really matters! Go for pieces that make you feel confident and that flatter your figure. There’s no point posing in a bikini if all you can think about is hiding your little rolls and your cellulite! The result probably won’t be great… If you’re on the beach and not totally comfortable in your swimsuit, throw on a little dress, your partner’s T-shirt, or a sarong.
Pay attention to your arms
We’re often so focused on our thighs or our tummy that we completely forget about our arms! But if you press them flat against your body, they can look much bigger than they actually are. In holiday photos, remember to keep your arms slightly away from your body and bend them a little — it keeps the pose looking natural.

Avoid certain angles and lighting
Close-ups and low-angle shots are best avoided if you don’t want to look like you’ve gained 10 pounds in your holiday photos! Opt for wider shots and photos taken from slightly above.
The same goes for lighting — photos taken in direct sunlight can leave you squinting and looking tense. Harsh sunlight (and fluorescent lighting!) can also accentuate imperfections. For a beautiful photo, late afternoon light is usually ideal.
And finally — smile in your holiday photos!
