It has been a while now that we have been giving you tips and tricks on how to lose weight, build muscle and get rid of cellulite. But do you really know how to weigh yourself? Weighing ourselves properly is important, as it can be a motivating element, so here are our tips for you to avoid weighing yourself the wrong way.
Do you weigh yourself as you should?
A good rhythm
You must know this: it is useless to weigh yourself more than once a week, even less more than once a day! Leave your body the time it needs to get used to your new diet and workout routine. The best is to weigh yourself once a week. Try to weigh yourself the same day at the same time. For instance every monday, before breakfast. Write your results down in a notebook to be able to track your results.
The right time
You cannot weigh yourself at anytime of the day, like in the evening for instance! Weigh yourself in the morning, after waking up and before having breakfast. Also try to go to the toilet before weighing yourself. Your clothes can change your results too! So always weigh yourself without any clothes or in your underwear.
The right position
Once you are on your scales, try to keep your back straight and feet flat, spreading your weight evenly. Don’t lean forward. Tip: weigh yourself on the same scales, not every scales are set the same and this could alter your results.
Alternatives to scales
If you don’t have scales or feel that using your scales isn’t rewarding you can go for this alternative: take pictures of yourself once a month to see how your body has changed (front & profil, in your underwear). Take your measurements at the same time (abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs) and write them down in a notebook. This could help you stay motivated as you can get thinner without losing weight!
The good attitude
The best attitude is to stay patient and relaxed! Stay motivated, especially at the beginning when you are focusing on building muscle, because your weight can stay the same but your body is getting rid of fat and building muscle. Remember that your weight is only a small part of your journey, and that the most important is to feel good!
